Behind the Design.
Behind the Design -
Our goal at AwaMae is to ensure our whanau's Māori culture isn't lost and the meanings and symbols of te ao Māori are incorporated in many of our designs starting with our special Heirloom blankets and beanie.
These blankets were thoughtfully designed to be a taonga, a treasure of true value and a heirloom- to pass onto future generations, with the help of Emma Jane Ormsby - a Māori artist in Auckland.
The aim is for this blanket is to surround, nurture and protect our littles ones, just as we, as mothers and parents do. Immersing pēpi in warmth and security surrounded by symbols and meanings from New Zealand's culture.
In short, the symbols represent the love, compassion and strength we (parents) have for our pēpi and the colour reflects the stunning greenery that surrounds us here in beautiful Aotearoa.
Thus, the name
Te aroha o te mātua - The love of a parent.
Made from only but the most luxurious organic cotton yarns - ultra soft and only but the best for your babes.
