About us

AwaMae is a children and babies clothing and accessory brand directed by twin sisters in  New Zealand. We are working hard to design and produce a range of clothing that has aspects of both te ao Māori and te ao Pākehā woven throughout.
Having both partnered in life with Māori men, one of whom lacks knowledge of his own whakapapa, made us reflect on our children's and future children's culture and identity- Upon reflection, we wanted to seek the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of all of our families' cultural roots to allow our children to grow up to learn and incorporate their own European and Māori cultures. This in turn is part of the inspiration behind AwaMae - Ensuring we reflect ours and our whānau's culture, heritage and identity in our brands designs.
As a celebration, as a taonga and as keepsakes, to passed onto many generations to come.

Further to this inspiration our designs also stem from the journey of being a parent and wanting what's best for our pēpi.- Our range includes natural, quality and comfortable fits in muted tones- unique to AwaMae but true to New Zealand's environment.
